Spam and viruses that appear to come from Katipo staff

1 July 2003

Chris and I are safely back from Vienna, where we had a great time, to
discover an avalanche of SPAM and Virus software which purports to be from
Katipo staff.

The messages ARE NOT from Katipo staff, the senders are using our addresses though, and we are getting hundreds if not thousands of bounce messages etc to our mail server, which is not making us happy.

Please DON'T open any odd looking messages that look like they are from us, you are welcome to ring and confirm that an e-mail is genuine if you're not sure. Definitely don't double click on any attachments, save them to your hard drive first, and check to see if it looks like it really
is a word document or whatever.

If we are running your mail for you, and you're finding the SPAM a bit overwhelming, we can turn on Spam Assassin for you, which will mark all the mail that is spam, so you can filter it out in your mail programme.

Cost is a one off $30 per mailbox.

I'll do another cheerier post about our trip to Vienna, but thought I should let you know we're aware of this virus that's doing the rounds, and at the moment are just trying to weather the storm.

Cheers
Rachel
